I am a graduate student at the University of Alabama Birmingham. I contacted Rosalie last fall for documents relating to the bombing of Coventry in November of 1940. Her response was prompt and she was able to supply me with the enigma decodes relating to this event. This summer she provided me with copies of the Most Secret German Police decodes relating to the beginnings of the holocaust in the Soviet Union, 1941. I recommend Ms. Spire highly. Her service is excellent and her rates/fees are very reasonable. Thanks Rosalie

While it took some blind faith to engage a trans-Atlantic research assistant, the results more than rewarded the act of faith.  I asked Rosalie to start with only the facts of my own experience.

My challenge was to convince the U.S. Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA) in Montgomery, Alabama, that I, and a large number of other members of the U.S. Army Air Forces who served in the Ninth Air Force Flying Control Squadron (Provisional), had been tr ained at the Royal Air Force School of Flying Control in Watchfield, Berks, during World War II.

The earliest records held by (AFHRA) were dated 31 August 1944.  Our Detachment was equipped in England in April and May, 1944.  We moved onto the Normandy Beachhead on D+10 -- June 16.  There was no mention in any of the AFHRA records that any US personnel had been trained by the RAF -- simply because no one had ever told them.  Months went by with partial reports from Rosalie from time to time -- until the Great Breakthrough!

Rosalie found documents (secret at the time) at National Archives, Kew, written by high level RAF officers defining the necessity of US Army Air Corps personnel using the RAF system of Flying Control (now Air Traffic Control).  In addition she sent me copies of log book sheets from the RAF School of Flying Control which showed, at the end of World War II, they had trained a to tal of 1,448 US officers and other ranks.  When I relayed this information to my friend at AFHRA, he was pleased and said they would open a special file for the information with my name on it.  I will ask him to please list "Rosalie Spire, Research Assistant".

All of Rosalie's solid research now equips me to go to the US National Archives (which is less than 20 miles from my home) to 'connect the dots' -- find the comparable US records.  I could not have asked for, nor expected, more.

WICA has hired an independent researcher, Ms. Rosalie Spire of London, to take photos of ironstone designs from 1839 through 1887 at the National Archives at Kew. She has discovered original drawings for several Francis Morley patterns as well - Arabian and Albert Star among them and Aleppo. If a TCC member wishes to engage a researcher to track down transfer designs, I heartily recommend Rosalie, who possesses an admirable work ethic, good photographic skills and an affordable fee. We in WICA plan to use her work in a power point presentation at our next convention. (She discovered over 25 new shapes for us.) Jane

Just a note to say that your work in the early stages of my research is now embedded in The Curious Mr Howard, and that you get a mention in the acknowledgements.

Thank you again for your help,
